“Everyone can cultivate an inner place of stillness – a safe harbor so to speak – where they can retreat and regroup on a regular basis. I want to help people find that inner harbor inside themselves.”
- Robin Elizabeth Williams
Robin Elizabeth Williams, Director
With over 35 years in visual and performing arts education and with over 10 years as a meditator and meditation teacher, Robin Elizabeth Williams is uniquely qualified to create innovative programming in mindfulness and the arts for children, adults, and the wider community.
As the Director of Education at the Baltimore Shambhala Meditation Center, Robin coordinated programs in meditation and contemplative arts and invited noted teachers in the areas of mindfulness, meditation, Buddhism, Buddhist psychology, qigong, tai chi, poetry, yoga, calligraphy, and ikebana. She partnered with other people and organizations to creatively and experientially learn about challenging topics such as faith, grief, death, race, spirituality, and peacemaking. After a teaching visit with Vietnam veteran and Zen Monk, Claude Anshin Thomas, Robin was inspired to continue to bring meditation and art to veterans at the Maryland Center for Veteran Education and Training and mindfulness to the Veterans Court in Baltimore City.
Robin realized that she wanted to demystify the meditation experience and to bring the beneficial life skills of mindfulness and creativity to a wider community – and so she founded Inner Harbor Wellness. Along with providing opportunities in meditation and art, her intention for Inner Harbor Wellness is to create space for community conversations on relevant topics, service projects that benefit the wider Baltimore community, and self-care programs for care givers.
